Scans Series, 2013—Present
These works document the interaction between my body and nature to create elaborate self-portraits that beg the viewer to consider the subtleties of touch. In my photographs, I embrace, drag, poke, and rip delicate flora apart as the light of a scanner exposes the objects that lay on the glass bed. The movement creates glitches that allow for fragments of my body to disappear and reappear again. This visual oscillation is meant to analyze the physical and constructed boundaries between human and nonhuman intelligence.
